A lot has changed in the decade or more that Alliance members have served behind prison walls. When citizens return to the community from incarceration, they often need support functionally and socially reintegrating with the community. The Alliance provides individualized Critical Adventures to teach recently returning citizens the skills they need to thrive outside.
Critical Adventures are comprised of two components – critical and adventurous. The critical component is when the returning citizen is supported as he or she re-learns important functions such as budgeting, riding public transportation, opening bank accounts, passing driver’s test and more. The adventurous component is usually a larger group activity that supports emotional reconnection with the community and builds social and professional support networks.
